Irish immigrants founded the Rhode Island Ceilidhe Club in 1956. The purpose was to have a place to hold social activities and share their common heritage. The club is located in Cranston, RI, and there we host pub nights, lectures, classes, ceilis and concerts...as well as special events and our marvelous St. Patricks' Day corned beef dinner! Here you will find an old fashioned welcome, a cozy pub with the game on of an occasional Sunday, tea and your favorite beverages, and some of the best Irish traditional music around.

The Trad Stops Here!

Over the years, we have been thrilled to offer intimate evenings with some of the best names in traditional music. Our Pub and Hall have been the setting for performances by Kevin Burke, Frankie Gavin, Niamh Parsons, Brian Conway and Felix Dolan, Sean Tyrrell, Andy Irvine, John Carty, Joey Abarta, The Murphy Beds, Grainne Hambly and Billy Jackson, and many others. Our smaller spaces can often be 'just the thing' for the first concert in a tour, or the show that fits in beautifully between larger cities. Concerts are added throughout the season as space in the schedule permits, so be sure to "like" our Facebook page for the latest event details.

In addition to our concert evenings, Pub Nights bring out our favorite local talent on many a Friday. Get the current round of info- sign up for our e mail list, or check out the latest newsletter here. We promise a warm welcome and a fabulous time!

We also offer top notch food offerings every Friday. These are prepared by our wonderful cook Glenn. Be sure to check out our pub specials below.

Lectures: 1916 Committe Lecture

1916 Committee Lecture Information:  We are very fortunate that Tim Hoyt will be returning to the podium for a 7:30 pm start. His topic is `The Irish Revolution and the American Diaspora, 1900 - 1924`. Here is how Professor Hoyt describes his presentation:
This lecture will examine the evolution of Irish-America`s support for radical nationalism - the `physical force tradition` - in Ireland in the late 19th and early 20th century. There will be a discussion on the three most important influences of the radical political groups furthering Irish independence. Listen to the role of  Irish-American opinion in the struggle for freedom and the detonation on the Easter Revolution in 1916. Learn why the impetus for independence was undercut by the crosscurrents on World War I and the disunity among its Irish leaders and organizations in the critical years between 1917 - 1923.

Save that date, Friday, May 3, as Professor Hoyt always gives an informative and entertaining lecture.
Ticket prices: (members) $10.00 (non-members) $15.00

President: Patrick Harrington

Vice President: Heather Pearson (Eric)

Treasurer: Joanne Mollica (Steven)

My family is of Irish heritage, Walsh and O'Rourke. I grew up in a household of Irish music and a fascination for anything Irish. My parents brought me to The Blarney Stone Pub in Pawtucket where "Ireland 32" held office. I joined Ireland 32 and then The Ceilidhe Club. I have volunteered at Edgewood Yacht Club since 1989 off and on as Treasurer, and assistant Treasurer. I currently am the Bookkeeper there. While at the Ceilidhe Club last year, a notice was posted that a Treasurer was needed and I am now happily in that position . I co-share the office with Rose Dourette. I enjoy the comraderie at the Ceilidhe Club and the wonderful music and friends.

Treasurer: Rose Durette

Recording Secretary: Sara Benz

Corresponding Secretary: Dorothy Langford

Sergeant at Arms: Glenn O'Gara

Webmaster: Paul G `Jerry` Scannell (Mary)

I have been involved in many organizations over the years to include The Shamrock Society of North Providence (past president), The Ancient Order of Hibernians - William J McEnery Division (past president), Knights of Columbus (past Grand Knight). I have also been the webmaster for my K of C council as well as the RI State Council. I have truly loved designing the Ceilidhe Club website.
